Keep your eyes on Jesus

Proverbs 4:23- I keep my eyes always on the Lord.

I am a firm believer that it is easy to trust God when things are easy, but the true test is when things aren’t going your way.

A true test of my faith has been whilst flying on planes. For many people it can be a fearful experience and thought, going thousands of metres high, putting their trust and expertise in the drivers of the plane. For example, on my flight from Torino to Belgium we had unexpected extreme turbulence and the plane had dropped, twisted and turned; needless to say it felt like it was spiraling out of control. Everyone in the plane was screaming and hyperventilating. However, God has showed me through this experience to trust in Him despite what may be going on around us; despite how bad it may have felt and how close we thought death was. Through this time I heard God whisper to me to trust that everything is going to be okay, that He is the orchestrator of all and will protect me through all. After a few minutes the plane stopped shaking and turning, and it was calm again. This is a reminder to me, that even when you’re in the midst of darkness, to trust and put your eyes on the Lord and not your situation because He is the one who is controlling everything and will make peace.

I encourage you that when you are facing times of trouble and great grief, put your eyes on the Lord and not your circumstance.

Prayer for today: Dear God, I pray that when I am in the midst of a storm and when I am filled with fear, that I will learn to put my eyes on you, and trust you throughout all.
