When was the last time you judged someone?
There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor? James 4:12
We (definitely myself) can tend to judge others for either what they do to us, or what they do to themselves. It can be easy to pinpoint others faults and sins whilst ignoring the fact that we ourselves sin too. I like this verse because it is the bare truth. We are neither the lawgiver or the judge; our job is not to humiliate or disregard people rather to encourage and steer them gently in the right way. I don’t want to discourage you and make you feel disheartened but I believe this is a message that we need to hear as followers of Christ in order to grow closer to God and to be a better encourager.
I want to encourage you, if you feel as if you are easily irritated by others and start to feel a sense of distaste; try to see them in God’s eyes and pray for patience and love to fill your heart and mind.
Prayer for today: God I pray that I will not judge others for what they do to me or themselves rather instead pray for them and for our own patience.
Song for today: As I was writing this devotion I was listening to one thing by Hillsong I encourage you to listen to it on Youtube as you spend time in God’s presence.
