What voice are you tuning into?
So often in life – for whatever reason, I feel like I have to meet certain standards, say certain things, dress a certain way – or please other people. It’s so easy to feel like I have to cover up any issues I may have, in the fear that others may think poor of me, or that I may suddenly slip out of others expectation of a ‘perfect christian’.
What I have learnt is that living this way – although it is completely human, can be totally crippling and destructive to our internal world, causing us to live in mental turmoil.
I recently got a message from a friend and the text said “you know what your bible says – have peace in that”. This message, although simple, wrecked me in the best way possible.
The realisation of the way God views me washed over me in that moment and I was in that moment overcome by an understanding that it actually doesn’t matter what others may call me, or what I may call myself, because who God says I am is the most important thing.
Who does God say we are?? God’s word says “we are made in his image”, it says “before God shaped us in our mothers womb, He knew us and had holy plans for us”, and it says that “all things work together for the good of those who love Him” (Genesis 1:27, Jeremiah 1:5, Romans 8:28).
Question for today:
-when was the last time I wholeheartedly believed who God says I am?
