The power of prayer

The power of prayer.

Recently God has been teaching me about how important my prayers to him are, and how they not only draw us closer to him but actually are a big part of seeing our breakthrough come. For me growing up, praying has been a part of my daily life forever. It started with my parents praying for me each night before I went to sleep that I would have good dreams. Then as I got older it became me praying and asking God for help or telling him I love Him or asking for a breakthrough. And I would often pray these prays, but recently God has shown me just how important they are and that when I invest time into daily praying for things according to His will, that I will see Him move.

A prayer doesn't have to be technical but simply a conversation like you would have with your best friend. I think one thing we worry about as Christians that stunts the growth in our prayer life is that we are worried about what God will think of our prayers. Whether they’re too big or asking too much, our to real.

But we need to remember that God is bigger than our prayers. He knows the state of our heart before we speak our words. The bible says in Hebrews 4:16 “Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” If we are asking according to the will of God, we can approach him with confidence and see Him take care of our needs.

We need to remember that God always wants the best for us. If we don't see God move in the way we want, it's not because He isn't happy with us and doesn't want to, but purely because He has something better in store for us. Knowing this gives us the confidence to invest in our prayer time. Knowing that God will be so much more evident and active in our lives as we prioritise seeking him.

Prayer for today - God I want to thank you that you love me, that you hear me and that you care for me. As I decided to draw near to you through my prayers, would you draw near to me. Would you listen to my cry and answer me according to what is best. I love you and I honour you. In your name, I pray, Amen.
